The Art and Design Department at St Louis
is a friendly, caring and well-structured department. It
aims to help, encourage and motivate all its pupils to achieve
their full artistic and creative potential.
The
department is well established and over the years has enjoyed
great success:
- (2003-1999) For the fifth consecutive year students
of St Louis Grammar School, have achieved the top CCEA
‘A’ Level Art and Design Student Award.
- (2003) Art And Design Education Award for Best A2 Candidate
in 2003 ‘True Colours’ Exhibition.
- (2003) Arts Society of Ulster Runner-up ‘A’
Level Award.
- (2003-1995) 100% pass rate at both GCSE and A level
with a high number of students achieving Grade A*/A during
this period.
- (2003-2002) Four students have exhibited their work
in the Ulster Museum as highly commended entries in the
Texaco Children’s Art Competition.
- (2003) A painting by a Year 12 pupil was selected and
used as an advertisement on TV as part of a high profile
campaign created to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Texaco
Children’s Art Competition.
- (2002) ‘Spires’ Award for Top ‘A ’level
Art and Design Student 2002

- (2002) Winner of the Northern Ireland Coca-Cola ‘Form
and Fusion’ Design Award 2002. (A2 student won this
competition with her innovative and imaginative design
piece entitled Mettalica. This costume was shown on ITV-Gerry
Kelly Show and featured on the UTV- Late Late Show).
- (2002) All-Ireland Finalist Winner for ‘Best Technological
Development’ Coca-Cola ‘Form and Fusion’

- (2001) Arts Society of Ulster Award for top ‘A’
Level Student.
- (1999) Runner-up student in CCEA GCSE Art and Design
Examination.
- (1998) Top Student in CCEA GCSE Art and Design Examination.
Many of the students continue their studies at Top Universities.
Two students are currently studying at the prestigious College
of Central St. Martins London. The impressive record of
success at St Louis is a reflection of the talent and commitment
of teachers and students alike.
