The Conditional Tense

The conditional tense is used to express a wish or to make a suggestion.

Examples:

Elle devrait faire ses études à l’étranger
She should study abroad

Je prendrais bien un café

I'd quite like a coffee

The conditional tense is used to say what you would do, i.e. where the action depends on another event or situation.

The verb after Si is always in the Imperfect tense

To form the conditional tense use the same stem as is used for the 'future' and the imperfect endings:

ais
ais
ait
ions
iez
aient

Examples:

Je regarderais- I would watch

Nous irions- We would go
