Irish is taught throughout the school and is compulsory
in Years 8 & 9. An active Irish department continues
to promote and encourage the long established tradition
of Irish in St. Louis. In recent years pupils have achieved
top places in GCSE and 'A' level CCEA examinations and many
past pupils maintain a lifelong interest and commitment
to the language.
The emphasis throughout the department is to create an environment
for authentic use of language. Music and drama are considered
part of the learning programme and every opportunity is
taken to promote extra curricular links.
