Content and Assessment
- Develops a knowledge and understanding of nutritional advice and practical skills. Increases knowledge and understanding of human needs, the interdependence of individuals and groups, and the influence of social, cultural, economic and environmental factors. Develops a critical and analytical approach to decision-making and problem-solving. Combines practical and intellectual skills;
- Two tiers of entry: Foundation grades C – G and Higher grades A* - D (E). A common assessment approach for both tiers.
Paper 1: Examination (50% of total marks)
- One written paper consisting of short answer, structured, stimulus response and free-response questions
- External assessment set and marked by CCEA.
Paper 2: Internally assessed assignment (50% of total marks)
- Consists of two parts;
- Part A: Research-based activities;
- Part B: Practical food preparation activities.
- Internally assessed and externally moderated by CCEA
- Can generate assessment evidence for nationally-specified Key Skills Levels 1 and 2 in: Communication, Application of Number, Information Technology, Working with others, Improving own Learning and Performance and Problem Solving.
