A Level Mathematics - Subject Code: 8371 / 9731

 

AS Modules

Combinations leading to an award in AS Level Maths. comprise –

Either C1, C2 and M1 or C1, C2 and S1

(C = Core Maths. (Pure Maths.) M = Mechanics  S = Statistics)

Assessment

Each unit carries equal weighting and is assessed by 1½ hour examination.

A2 Modules

An Advanced Level qualification in Mathematics is awarded upon successful completion of six units in Mathematics:

            C1, C2, C3 and C4 are compulsory Pure Maths. modules and
            2 other modules from M1, M2, S1 or S2.

A student who continues with Mathematics to Advanced Level will normally be expected to have successfully completed three modules leading to the award of AS Mathematics.

Assessment

Assessment for each unit is by 1½ hour examination.

Students would normally be expected to have studied Higher Level Mathematics for GCSE but in some circumstances this is not a pre-requisite.  The combination of units listed above is subject to annual review.
