GCSE PE - CCEA - 7210

The examination will consist of three components:

Component 1 – Terminal Examination (30%)

This written paper examines the candidates’ knowledge and understanding of the factors affecting participation and performance in physical activity; the relationship between health, fitness and practical activity and risk assessment in physical activity.

Component 2 – Individual Performance in the Physical Activities (50%)

This examines the ability of candidates to perform effectively under applied conditions in their practical activities.  They will be assessed on their fitness profiles and on three other physical activities.  The activities offered will be determined by the Physical Education staff through consideration of the candidates’ talents and the resources available.

Component 3 – Analysis & Improvement of Performance in the Physical Activities (20%)

This examines the ability of candidates to analyse performance to determine its strengths and weaknesses and to improve its quality and effectiveness.

PRIOR LEARNING

Success in GCSE Physical Education is based primarily on a high level of competence in the Practical Activities combined with a high level of physical fitness.
