Art exhibition

The abundance of Art talent being developed at St. Louis Grammar School, Kilkeel, continues to go from strength to strength. With several years in the top ranks for Art in Northern Ireland, the exhibition by this years GCSE, AS and A2 students was eagerly anticipated by both students and their parents.

Parents and guests of the Art & Design students at the school, were treated to a variety of stunning exhibitions over the past number of weeks. With St Louis strong reputation for excellence in Art & Design, this year’s students certainly lived up to the billing.

The GCSE students were first to captivate their guests with a wonderfully creative array of fashion, textile, sculpture, graphic design, 3D design, felt making, fine art and web design. Art is very popular at the school, attracting many students whose aspirations lie further afield at AS, A2 Level and beyond. As well as anticipating success at GCSE level, talented student, Helena Kennedy’s Fine art and exam project were nominated for inclusion in The True Colours Exhibition in Belfast next year.

Up next was the very dedicated work of the A2 students. Their exhibition, to the delight of their parents and guests, included a varied array of talented displays in Fine Art and Design. The students are now continuing their creative artistic careers by enrolling in courses such as Architecture, Music and Drama.

Finally it was the turn of the AS Art students. They offered an exhibition which highlighted the great variety in discipline within the Art field. Parents attained a great insight into how dedicated their children were as they viewed excellence in a very impressive range of disciplines. These included Flash Animation, Fine Art, 3D design, Ceramics and Sculpture. Year 13 students Jennifer Hardy (Animation) and Aisling Curran (Fine Art) both received great accolade for their endeavours by their nomination for inclusion in The True Colours Exhibition in Belfast next year.

Proud Art teachers Mrs Jayne Grant and Mrs Deirdre Keary were delighted with the all the successes of the Art & Design students who have work extremely hard throughout the year. The high standards of excellence at St. Louis Grammar School continue to prevail.
