St. Louis Student Excels In the Schools’ Environmental Calendar Poster Competition

Congratulations to Meabh O’Hare who was selected as a prize winner in the Schools’ Environmental Calendar Poster Competition for Newry and Mourne. Meabh’s entry depicted a beautiful painting of Narrow Water Castle surrounded by forest and hills.

Meabh recently attended a reception hosted by Deputy Mayor of Newry and Mourne District Council, Councillor Packie McDonald. Meabh’s poster was chosen from thousands of entries received from forty schools across the district. The poster will feature in the 2013 calendar which will be printed in December and distributed to local schools free of charge.

Deputy Mayor McDonald, presenting the winners with their prizes, told the pupils “I would like to congratulate you on your great achievement of being chosen from the thousands of entries received in this the tenth anniversary year of our poster competition to find thirteen designs to feature in the 2013 schools’ environmental calendar”.

“The standard has been very high once again this year and I look forward to seeing the completed calendar when it is produced in December” he added.

The calendar is jointly funded by the Council’s Environmental Health and Technical and Leisure Departments, along with the Equality Unit, as part of the Council’s environmental awareness programme.

Pupils received their prizes from Councillor McDonald including a specially framed copy each of their poster to mark the tenth anniversary of this popular schools’ competition.
