St. Louis Students ‘Celebrate Community Colour’

The annual Credit Union Art Competition for schools recently took place and once again the pupils of St. Louis Grammar School performed exceptionally well. With a fine tradition in Art and Design and the support of Head of Art, Mrs Dierdre Kearey, the St. Louis students thoroughly enjoy this opportunity to express their ideas on ‘canvas’.
Mrs Geraldine Kane from Kilkeel Credit Union presented four St. Louis pupils with prizes for their winning designs which were submitted to the annual art competition “Celebrate Community Colour’. This year’s theme was open to interpretation by each entrant but aimed to celebrate the vibrancy and strength of Irish communities as we battle through tough economic times.
The competition, which attracts over 30,000 entries each year, was run through a network of over 490 credit unions located throughout the island of Ireland and will culminate in the national final which will be held in February 2013.
