St. Louis Students Ski in Austria

A party of 44 students and 4 teachers from St Louis Grammar School, Kilkeel have just returned from another hugely successful Ski trip. Now firmly established as an annual extra curricular activity this year’s trip comprised of a wonderful week of skiing on the slopes of Ehrwald in the Austrian Alps. With the group consiting of a variety of levels of ability on the Alpine pistes all participants received appropriate levels of tuition from the Austrian Ski School.
Ranging from a large group of novice skiers, all students made tremendous strides in their skiing ability. Instructors ensured that everyone had a safe and enjoyable experience on the piste.
Even though their exploits on the slopes utilised a lot of their energy, the students still found that little bit extra to enjoy a variety of après ski activities, including the amazing ski show and fireworks display in the local town of Lermoos. Other activities included bowling, outdoor ice skating and DVD nights that ensured that their time was utilised to the full.
On return the St. Louis students enjoyed the experience of a major European city- spending time in Munich, the departure base. This proved to be a good opportunity to purchase some gifts and other forms of memorabilia for themselves and for their friends and relatives at home.
With a huge amount of preparation made by the St. Louis teachers, comprising of Group Leader, Mr Oliver Sloan and assisted by an experienced team consisting of Mr Shane Jordan Rafferty, Mrs Rosemary Colgan and Miss Mary McCullagh, the students returned home perhaps tired but with a pocket full of wonder memories from an unforgettable experience.
