NEW WEBSITE FOR THE PUBLIC PLANNING PROPOSAL FOR THE NEW SCHOOL:

As part of a Major Works programme for the Department of Education, it was announced in June 2020 that St. Louis Grammar School, Kilkeel is to be provided with suitable educational facilities to meet the curricular needs of 860 post primary pupils (including 246 sixth form pupils). The proposals are also required to meet the specific BREEAM outstanding level ENE01 & 04 credits.
he proposed works include demolition of the existing school. Construction of a new 2 storey post primary school on the same site as the existing St Louis Grammar School located at 151 Newry Road, Kilkeel BT34 4EU. Site works include a new 3G GAA pitch, 2 grass GAA pitches, 3 tennis courts and 3 handball courts. Other site works include car parking with separate drop off and pick up provision. The existing vehicle entrance will be retained and widened to facilitate single entry and dual exit for cars. Adjacent is a separate boulevard proposed for pedestrian access leading to the main entrance of the school building. Dedicated bus parking accessed by a new entrance and exit off Newry Road will be provided along the western boundary of the site. This road will extend towards the south of the site for maintenance and emergency vehicle access.
The proposal has been developed through various work phases to ensure the existing school can remain operational throughout the construction period.
