There was great success for St Louis at the Environmental Youth Speak Competition 2026, as Year 10 pupil, Conor Rooney Davis delivered a powerful speech on “How the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals are important to me” to win the prestigious accolade.
The judges were particularly impressed with Conor’s passionate and inspiring speech which saw him rise above stiff competition from other local post-primary schools. Staff members, Mrs B Cunningham and Mr M Quinn of the English Department who have helped mentor Conor were thrilled by his outstanding success.
The final of the competition, held at Downpatrick Civic Centre, showcased the very best of young voices, all of whom are passionate about our planet’s future. We are especially proud that Conor’s message stood out to a distinguished judging panel, including Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Philip Campbell. The victory is a testament to Conor’s hard work, confidence and commitment to making a difference. Well done, Conor!
