A Level Spanish

  • By taking A Level Spanish you will gain a fascinating insight in to the world of Spanish whilst developing the ability to communicate confidently and effectively in both speech and writing.

  • You will learn about Spanish contemporary society, the cultural background of Spain, and the heritage of Spanish which includes countries and communities where Spanish is spoken.

A Level Spanish

Spanish A Level will:

  • give you a fascinating insight into the world of Spanish, whilst developing the ability to communicate confidently and effectively in Spanish in both speech and writing.
  • You will also learn about the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of not only Spain but of other countries and communities where Spanish is spoken.

  • Your own personal development will also benefit greatly from taking GCE Spanish. It will strengthen your confidence and help you gain a positive attitude to learning and independent study.
  • The AS units can be taken separately as a stand alone qualification or you can combine with the A2 units to gain the full A Level qualification.

 

Course Units - 2 at AS / 2 at A2

  • AS 1 – Speaking

  • AS 2 - Section A – Listening, Sections B & C – Reading and Writing

  • A2 1 - Speaking

  • A2 2 - Section A – Listening, Sections B & C – Reading and Writing

The AS Spanish course is worth 40% of the full A level qualification, A2 is worth 60%.

If you have an interest and a desire to learn and experience the world around you then you will be well suited to this course!

The AS course can be taken on its own without progressing onto the full A Level Qualification and this will still provide you with a wealth of knowledge and competency in Spanish for use in leisure or travel.

Learning a language will bring you a wide range of skills and attributes and it provides an excellent basis for lifelong learning. Not only will you be able to communicate in another language, but you will have opportunities to improve communication and interpersonal skills. All of which are highly sought after by employers and universities alike.

A Level Spanish

This qualification requires pupils to have:

7 GCSEs A*-C - with a grade B in GCSE Spanish

Studying Spanish at St. Louis has allowed me to develop my linguistic and communication skills thanks to school trips, support of the language teachers and weekly classes with the Spanish assistant. All of these factors have encouraged me to pursue a degree in Modern Languages and International Business and to work abroad.
